This blog is for family and friends of year 3-6 students taking part in both Core GATE and Philosophy classes.
The Year 3 and 4 Core classes will be looking at their possible future footprints. What would they like to be when they are adults? What careers might there be in the future?
Year 5 Core GATE will be learning some decision-making skills which they can apply to real situations (authentic problem-solving). We will be taking part in the Transpower Competition where we work with an engineer to solve a real problem. This year we will be looking at ways to improve our school library.
Year 6 Core GATE will be taking part in the Future Problem-Solving Programme. Our first problem looks at "Sensory Overload." (More information is available on GATE Discoveryzone).
Year 3-4 Philosophy classes will begin the year by discussing "Animal Rights."
Year 5-6 Philosophy classes will be discussing the "Great NZ Flag debate."
We look forward to show-casing our work and to your feedback.
