Philosophy Year 3

(absent Ricky)

We have been discussing happiness and how different things make people happy. Here is a class poem we wrote based on the discussions.....

Happiness is....

The sound of
-my cat softly purring
-bees buzzing around the flowers
-friends whispering to me
-someone yelling "Come and play!"
-the song, happy birthday, being sung to me
-fireworks exploding in the sky
-instruments in the music room
-dice rolling on a game board
-the shhhh sound of a frizbee

The smell of
-freshly baked Christmas cake
-salty air at the beach
-Mum's flowery perfume
-petrol coming out of an engine
-vanilla ice cream on a hot day
-warm wires and metal inside a computer

The sight of
-Nana's face on her birthday when we give her flowers
-presents piled up under a Christmas tree
-beautiful, multicoloured light at the lantern festival
-flame orange, red, pink and yellow of a peaceful sunset
-different shapes I can make with my new blocks
-the pleased, surprised look on Mum's face when we do something nice without being asked

The taste of
-hot, spicy meat pies
-fresh air in the garden when you are playing
-sour snake lollies that make you screw up your face
-a melty chocolate biscuit

The feel of
-my warm, snuggly bed on a stormy night
-slippery, smooth silk
-cool, swishy water in a swimming pool
-a soft, cool breeze coming in the car window on a hot day
-my kitten's soft fur when she snuggles up on me.
That's what happiness means to us!
